How Should Sex Education Be Taught In Schools Essay

In any of your classes have you ever said, “When are we going to use this in real life?” Me too, I don’t understand why we have to learn some stuff we’ll actually never use. As you all know sex is very common in our early years now a days.“13% of U.S teens have had sex by the age of 15, most initiate sex in their late teen years. By their 19th birthday, seven in 10 teen men and teen women have had intercourse.”(Facts on American Teens). So it would make sense to be properly educated about it, right? Sex education is a very important topic to learn about especially in high school when everyone starts to explore their sexuality. Sexuality is an integral part of each person 's identity. Offering age and culturally appropriate sexual health information in a safe environment for students- school. I feel like if parents are comfortable with teachers teaching their kids about Math and English, they should also be comfortable with teachers teaching their kids about how to be safe and prevent troubles with sex. Also i believe in information about condoms and contraception but not only that. I feel like a Sex ed should also talk about self-worth and how you should respect yourself and wait for an appropriate age. This class should not be optional like some classes, it should be mandatory. To make parents feel more involved it would be a good idea to have a paper for them that would have all the information that the class would be covering. I think some parents wouldn 't want their kids taking such class may be because they think it could lead their kids into having sex. It should be known that not all students lose their virginity in these early years, but it does happen. I think parents need to know that without the proper knowledge..that’s when the problems start. We have voices and they can be heard if plenty speak up. Sex education is real, natural information and it shouldn’t be a terrible thing to talk and learn about. Everyone deserves to know their self worth and respect themselves, as well as being knowledgeable. It should be known that sex education is needed in many schools. We can talk to principals and by making petitions we can make this happen and make a difference, let’s give our student body the knowledge they deserve as human
