My Ecomap Research Paper

My ecomap contains seven circles labeled with people, places, or things that impact my life on a daily basis. These circles list: family, friends, work, school, home, pets, and therapist. My family is a huge part of my life and is one that I have a strong, supportive bond with. While there may be instances of negativity, for the most part my family has a very positive and powerful aspect on my life. I think a huge part of why my family has such a positive impact on my life is because of how close knit we are with each other. My family spends a lot of time together whether it be watching movies on Saturday nights or going on our summer vacations. According to Kuzma (1992), “Healthy families enjoy being together. They work together, play …show more content…
I absolutely love going to school because it is something that keeps me busy in a good way. Being a social work major allows me to take classes that I am very interested in which keeps me interested and not bored with school. My relationship with school has always been positive simply because I love learning and being social with others. My relationship with home is also a relationship that is very positive. For the most part, I have grown up in a small town my entire life. I love being home because the small town atmosphere makes me feel safe, comfortable, and a part of something. My town is very close knit so it is hard to go out and not see at least two or three people you know. While this is something most people met dread, I like it because I like being social with others and feeling a part of something bigger than just the roof my family lives under. I also have a very strong relationship with my pets. Currently, I have four dogs, two cats, and four mice. While this may seem like a lot, this is nothing compared to the amount of pets my family has had in the past. I look forward to going home on weekends to see my dogs. There is just something about cuddling with one of the dogs and watching a movie that makes me very happy. My house in the future will always have at least one dog in it. Currently, my relationship with my therapist is stressful and negative. I see a therapist because I am …show more content…
My nuclear family consists of my parents, my bother and myself. Overall, my family is very close knit and loves one another very much. Being in a family where everyone is an adult is sometimes not as close knit and positive, but family defies that idea. We always make time to spend together and talk as a family about almost everything. My brother and I are very close with our parents despite our ages and they are two people we definitely could not live without. My dad, Kurt Hansen, is someone who I have a positive and supportive relationship with. While I may not talk to him about everything, when I do talk to him he gives me his honest opinion. He is someone who supports me in everything that I do. My dad and I are great at spending hours watching movies together. I really appreciate and love the relationship I have with my dad because I know this is something that not all women my age have. The relationship I have with my mom, Anna Hansen, is something that I would not give up for the world. I am very close with mom and she is my biggest supporter in life. When I am having a good or bad day she is always the first person I call to talk to. We spend hours together out shopping, going to meals, or just sitting around talking. My mother raised me to have a positive relationship with her, but was never my best friend. This is something that I appreciate because I was still reprimanded for my wrong-doings, but she was

The family relationship and the sense of community that Viola Canales portrays in her novel, it is founded on Mexican culture, as such I felt identified with it. In this essay, I will compare Sofia’s childhood relationship with Mexican traditions and customs, and her relationship with her parents with mine. I was surprising to me how easily her family kept in touch with their roots, since I grew up in Mexico, one would think the customs and traditions of my country would have been present in my life without effort, but the truth is my parents never instilled me most of it, they worked all week, almost all day, making it impossible for us to have family time until I was in middle school, but the feel of community, which in my opinion is the…

For the first time in my life, I had the opportunity to create a genogram that would explore the history of myself and family. Much like a family tree, a genogram is a visual display of a person’s family relationships, psychological issues, medical history, culture and other hereditary likelihoods. Unfortunately, I was hoping to have been able to learn and share a lot about my family history but was unable to due to limited resources and lack of knowledge. Much of my genogram is composed of the things that I already know about my family and from stories that were shared with me, the main reasons I was unable to gather information is because of death and separation of my family both in the past and recently. I would like to start my genogram with my family connections, starting with Elvira, who was my paternal Grandmother, she was the foundation of my family.…

On a Thursday evening coming home from school just another hot day in Moreno Valley as I lazily walked up the stairs to my room I suddenly was enabled to stand, so I laid down my bed feeling the sun light coming out the window burning my left side of my body. My sister Ana and her friend were next room right next to mine listening to their abhorrent lyrics they called music. A couple of months ago before moving into this gorgeous house the prefect home I always dreamt or any other kid who grew up in family of a working class getting the chance to live in a marvelous home the kind you see in movies. When my parents told me that we were moving a couple of miles away from where I used to live I didn’t understand the reason that all of the sudden I did not wanted to move away. From all the times I dreamt to get out of there and live in a perfect family and a great home.…

From the door in it’s a whole new world; I called it a whole new world because it is towards me. The United States culture differs from the southern and central American culture by how we respect our elders, value of education, and our traditional foods. An example, will be in the United States where in the majority of the youth have a “ticket” to disrespect older people, “if you don’t respect me, I won’t respect you”. While in my household you respect no matter what.…

Making an eco-map shed insight on how I interact with the relationships of my family, friend groups, and coworkers. The map has made me reevaluate the types of my relationships and if they exhibited healthy signs. The ecological context, for which I have based my eco-map, is my current context at College of the Ozarks. I understand I had a distinctly different context when living with my parents, and different still, from the context when all of my siblings live in my parent’s home. I leave a caveat here denoting that I am not sharing the spiritual aspect, which is an important facture, in either the map or this article.…

Family of Origin Introduction Families are a social system that is governed by rules and power structures, in which members become emotionally connected and interdependent (Collins, Jordan, & Coleman, 2012). Families tend to be the responsible agent in shaping the environment where individuals grow and develop. Each member in the family is different, and each contributes to the functionality of the family in a distinctive way. To be able to understand an individual’s behavior within a family, the family context and environment must be understood (Collins, Jordan, & Coleman, 2012).…
