At first I did not feel apart of the service community very much, because I didn't know anyone because on Sunday I do not usually speak to anyone, but by the third week I felt like I was apart of it. The third week I went to serve ready to finish my hours and get it over with,

I have volunteered at my church by cleaning, helping with Vacation Bible School during the summer, and helping with the Fish Fries during Lent. I started volunteering at my church a couple years ago when they needed help with somethings. The first time I starting it was only for Vacation Bible school and the only reason I started was because they need more staff to help with the kids. From then on I have helped every year at the St. Michael's Church in Emlenton and I have helped with so many things during Vacation Bible School. Some of the stuff I help with Vacation Bible School was food, crafts, and games and they started a new thing last year that you take picture of the kids doing actives about god and how much we love him.…

In Creature of the Word, authors Chandler, Patterson, and Geiger set out to uncover what it means to be a church captivated by the Gospel. The Gospel, as defined by the authors, is, “God’s reconciling work in Christ-that through the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, God is making all things new both personally for those who repent and believe, and cosmically as He redeems culture and creation from its subjection to futility” (7,8). Chapter one begins with the claim that the church as a whole has lost sight of what the Gospel really is. The church cannot be fulfilled, or successful, apart from the Gospel; the Gospel is what forms the church. This message is about more than simply containing it within the church walls, though, it is about…

As I have matured, I have continued to discern my call through my various experiences that have been fostered by the Lutheran Church.
