Leadership Assessment For a leader to be successful, he or she must analyze their own strengths and weaknesses. The importance of self reflection, is that it gives the opportunity to grow. This reflection helps to analyze traits such as communication skills, the ability to recognize opportunity, knowing the position of being an advisor, and the ability to recognize talent. One such way of doing this is by completing a leadership assessment. The University of Kent in the United Kingdom offers an online leadership styles test, which helps people to better assess their attributes as leaders. Upon completion of this quiz, people are provided a chart explaining which styles of leadership they fall under. According to the University, these …show more content…
Throughout my lifetime, I have always tried to be cogitative with my decision making. I also seek out as much information as possible prior to making big decisions. Entrusting others with theirs strengths and abilities allows me to see their quality of workmanship and personalities. To me, being patient has always been beneficial. I don 't like to pat myself on the back much; however, I feel more encouraged through other peoples satisfaction when I help them. Overall, the reassurance of this assessment helped me to see both the positive and negative sides of being a participative leader. One area which I would like to strengthen my leadership style, is that of the authoritarian aspect. Recognizing Participative Leadership Participative leadership is commonly employed amongst people sharing a democratic perspective. These people often lead by example.
