The opportunity to understand other’s perception as well as my own about various inter and intra personal skills in me was an eye-opening experience. I gained a lot of awareness with respect to my mannerisms in private and public life. The four respondents that completed the questionnaire were My Colleague, My Friend, My Acquaintance and I. The detailed responses are available in Appendix A.
In Social Skills, my friend scored me as 28, whereas my colleague scored me as 29. It was interesting to note that my acquaintance scored me the highest score of 35 among others whereas my own self-evaluation was the lowest score of 26. All of these were below the author’s average of 30.4 except the score given by my acquaintance. My new acquaintance gave

However, my Social skills (29.5) and Self-Monitoring skills (8.5) need improvement based on averages. My first module entry consisted of Interpersonal Communication. I find this the most important because communication starts any conversation. I believe as a leader I have used interpersonal communication to my advantage but at other times it has been my biggest down fall. One of my drawbacks is that I do not self-monitor at times nor do perception check myself. This was evident during my time here in the group sessions.…

Self-Assessment Assignment 1.A. Personality Test: Guardians I have already done this kind of test more than twice before, and I always got the same result, which is ISTJ. This website didn’t tell which personality type I have, but they told me I am a Guardian (SJ’s), and ISTJ is one of the four types of Guardians. The part that I totally agree with is that I am following the rules and cooperating with others, not very comfortable blazing new trails, cautious about change, honor customs and traditions, and believe in law and order. Many people say that I am very tradition and somewhat conservative, but I am also kind of flexible and open-minded.…

Summative Self-Assessment The three goals I chose to work on through the course of the group sessions were to 1) Be willing to accept silence after a conflicting situation, 2) Be willing to voice my thoughts and opinions, without the need for reassurance, and 3) Learn to express my emotions, rather than showing all is well and pleasant, in all situations. I had several opportunities to work on my second and third goals through the course of in class group sessions, but very little opportunity to work on my first goal. Hence, I feel I have made significant progress on my second and third goals, but not my first goal.…

Self Assessment Analysis: Listening One major communication flaw of mine is my inability to listen to others at times. The idiom, “you have one mouth and two ears, so you should listen twice as much as you talk,” makes sense. However, it has been hard to implement this idea in my life. I have noticed in conversations that I sometimes “check out” and start thinking about other things, completely ignoring the person talking.…
