We as individuals all have goals and dreams in life that we would like to achieve. Conversely, often times, fear of the unknown or fear of failure can hinder our desires to fulfill those dreams and goals. Well, that is where self-efficacy falls into the picture. However, similar to self-confidence and self-esteem, self-efficacy is a term that relates to the thoughts and/or image of self. The psychologist Albert Bandura defines self-efficacy as the thoughts an individual may have in their own abilities regards of the situation and/or circumstance at hand (Cherry, n.d.). Its general concept is also central around Bandura’s social cognitive theory, which emphasizes the role of observational learning, social experience, and reciprocal determinism …show more content…
The criterion variable for this survey will be the measurement of the self-efficacy of the counseling students taking courses online and land-based. The next step in conducting this survey is to determine the predictors which are the variables used to estimate the criterion (Sheperis, Young, & Daniels, 2010). However, with there being multiple variables in determining the outcome of the criterion, the multivariate predictive model would be the best design to use in constructing this survey. The items that will be used to determine the measurement of the self-efficacy of the counseling students will be gender (female/male), current age, enrollment status (full-time/part-time), employment status (full-time/part-time/not employed), allotted study time, socioeconomic status, student/teacher interaction, available resources (textbooks), positive support system, and financial aid …show more content…
In this case, when answering the question "What are the differences in perceptions of self-efficacy among counseling students in online and land-based counseling graduate degree programs?”, there are several factors that can be taken into consideration such as the gender (female/male), current age, enrollment status (full-time/part-time), employment status (full-time/part-time/not employed), allotted study time, socioeconomic status, student/teacher interaction, available resources (textbooks), positive support system, and financial aid status of the student as the begin and progress through the counseling graduate degree program.
