The thought that we need more self defense laws Imagine that you are walking down the sidewalk and you turn around to someone who had picked you up and carrying you to the ally way, but you can not help yourself because you do not know how to defend yourself or your scared of the consequences that would be shot towards you if you did. “Like as of December 2014, women made up nearly 14% (about 10,300) of state prisoners convicted of murder or manslaughter and 8.5% (about 7,800) of those convicted of nonsexual assault” (Law). In ninety nine seventeen percent of violent crimes were women (Law). Therefore we need more self defense laws because it will prevent assaults, it will prevent robberies, it will lessen the amount of deaths caused by criminals, and it will ensure innocent people of not paying for the consequences.
