The Importance Of Seasons

Improved Essays
Seasons are a reoccurring thing. A cycle. Seasons are inevitable; a simple fact of life. Seasons are controlling, and with each passing quarter it ushers in a new attitude. While years may pass, each season always has its own distinct flavour, controlling and molding the even that occur during that time period.
Winter is the first and most important season that comes to mind. Coming off the cusp off fall, it turns the bright orange leaves of trees into a bleak grey sky. The weather changes too, from pleasant to punishing. But winter is not without its redeeming qualities. During winter of course, are many big holidays and events I would have to consider, like Christmas break, my birthday, but most importantly Christmas itself.

But alas even Heaven doesn’t last forever, so school comes rolling back around. A few weeks in I get my birthday, a quick respite before exams and faster than one can react, we’re already rolling into the second semester. A quick few weeks of adjusting to the new schedule and spring pops up.
Spring of course, is the transition period each year. It’s when everything is blooming; the time of growth. Before the two month long celebration could begin, I would still have to fight my way through the last few bits of school. The good weather is always tempting me, as people emerge from their slumber inside the house and start cycling to and fro. And day by day, hour by hour, time would slowly creep by as the weather did as well, and finally releasing me from the grasp of the indoors.
Then, the semi-annual relaxation season (coincidentally at the exact opposite time as Christmas break) is finally kicked off. Each and every year there are new experiences, but these experiences are changed in a way. Not like in a way where winter would force me to act one way or another, but instead the summer is like an adventure in freedom. But what goes up, must come down, like the experiences to follow.
Shellshock hits as I suddenly realize that once again I will be joining the cycle once again. Months of disrupted sleep schedules will have to be righted in a night; and years of forgotten content will be attempted to refreshed in my head. The rat race begins once

In chapter 18 of How to Read Literature Like a Professor the main idea is how drowning is symbolic of baptism. In Morrison’s Song of Solomon, Milkman gets wet three times, an allusion to the form of Christian baptism in which the person is submerged three times in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. But it is not always baptism, it can mean something different like in Africa, drowning is associated with the Middle Passage. The Middle Passage is the mysterious, treacherous, and a hellish journey across the Atlantic during which many African slaves were thrown overboard either dead or alive, it has itself taken on mythic associations within literature, representing the unknown and the world of the dead.…

In the incredible ode, “To Autumn”, John Keats uses the literary devices duality and personification to capture the audience’s attention. He talks about the differences in autumn and it becomes clear that no matter the scale of revolt, or whatever happens, the cycle of life will continue endlessly. This is obvious when one looks at the phrases in each stanza, which makes the slight contrasts Keats’ uses purposeful. By looking at duality and personification, we can see the major differences in the phrases and the stanzas; this is important because John Keats magnificently exemplifies that all good things must eventually end as it’s a common cycle to all living on earth.…
