Marsetio explained about the theory of sea power. Dr. Marsetio himself divided the theory of sea power into two such as the theory of sea power from the east and from the west. Speaking about theory of sea power from the east, Cheng Ho who was came from Yunnan Province in West China, was sailing to all over the world and resulting almost 24 geographic sea map. His mission was not to invaded a country but rather to trading, and diplomacy purpose. Therefore, it is proven the use of maritime power for economic purpose and diplomacy rather than war. Actually, Cheng Ho was not literally established the theory of sea power but in the practice it was actually the implementation of two elements of sea power, sea as a medium for transportation and exchange and also sea as a medium for information and spread ideas. Meanwhile theory of sea power from the west was resulted from the maritime scholars such as Alfred Thayer Mahan, Julia Corbett, and Geoffrey Till. Mahan as the American strategist said that the countries with great naval power would have greater world impact.
