School uniforms cannot improve one’s behavior or academic achievement; schools should be spending time focusing on more important ideals. They take away a student’s individuality and they show no consistent improvement with student behavior or academic achievement. With no consistent research behind the decision, there is no reason to think that what student wears will change how they act and present themselves to others. This can make that student lash out more than they ever have before causing so much disruption in their school day, as well as the administrations. More effort should be put towards the children’s wellbeing, not what a child wears to school. A child is not a dress up doll; they are a living human with feelings, creativity, and preferences. A child has a favorite color, a favorite song, and a favorite shirt. Stifling these things in a child will not make a better student, and it definitely will not make a better working adult.
