Save Time Analysis

Improved Essays
Countless Americans do numerous things today to save time. For example, shopping online versus going to a store to shop. In today 's society, everyone wants to do things fast and for the most inexpensive cost. So the analysis I had conducted was to determine if the woman in fact actually spend more time in shopping stores rather than a male. This topic is something that is interesting to study due to how many people actually spend so long in a single store without even realizing it. Also, I am a “time hack” junky. Throughout the course of my six years in the Army, being on time or doing things to save time is something I have adopted and mastered over the years. When I go shopping, regardless if it is for clothes, groceries, or even for household …show more content…
Within the mall, we had to determine a gender neutral store. So the location that we picked was Aeropostale. The observation was conducted at 1800 on a Thursday, this way most college classes are completed by then, and high school sessions are also over. As observers there happened to be a sitting area right across from Aeropostale, so we all to a couch or chair separated from each other and began to collect the data that we needed. There were very little restrictions placed on eligible subjects, the only one was not going over 15 minutes for one single person. The outcomes were rather good considering the store we decided to pick. The only thing differently that would have caused for better results would be actually splitting up the stores. For example, doing the study on a primarily female store and doing a primarily male store. This way a true determination of the actual time people spends in a store could be calculated. It is more likely a male is going to spend more time in Footlocker or Champions then a place like Aeropostale or another neutral gender store. Same applies for females, they are more likely to spend more time in a primary female store such as Pink or Victoria Secrets then the location we …show more content…
They conducted themselves in a professional manner and did not make it seem like they were observing the individuals. The only thing bad about the group was communication. When it came to putting together our individual research and writing the paper, both group members wait till the last minute to compile their data. Being busy with ROTC and traveling to Flight 93 Memorial, Fort Knox, and Detroit has caused for a lot of conflict. I did my part of the project last week and was waiting for my fellow group members to send me their work. I will take responsibility here though, because I assume everyone does work as soon as possible and not wait till the last minute. This was the only problem I had with the group

The main challenge of this group situation is that there was a sudden rise of conflict among members at the beginning to mid phase of the project. This resulted the possible development of groupthink (Janis, 2008). As a leader in this situation, I would firstly feel lousy and disappointed in myself that I didn’t take note of group’s division and how the meeting could be more inclusive of everyone’s opinion (Chadha, 2016). However, at that point, I would also probably feel confused but yet curious as to why it was suddenly voiced out, hence thought that I should facilitate to explicit the thoughts and feelings of each member to better understand as well.…

I attended the Time Wise lecture on Tuesday, October 11th where Tim Wise spoke about racism and discrimination in America. Tim was a very uplifting speaker who talked about very raw subjects that many of us simply avoid. He spoke about racism, and how it is in-fact not a thing of the past. He talked about LGBTQ groups and other groups we look at as minorities. Tim talked about everything we talk about in Women’s studies but just to a heightened degree.…

Steve Jobs once said “Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve encountered to help make the big choices in life.” This may seem a little extreme, however, keeping this in the back of one’s head will serve as a reminder that time management is more than just a phrase thrown around to describe a seemingly unattainable trait. Managing time is an integral part of living a fulfilling life for everyone, particularly U.S. Navy personnel. Junior officers in the Navy need to figure out how to adequately manage their time because proper time management results in a more efficient force. For JO’s to overcome the problem of poor time management, it’s necessary to understand what time management is & isn’t, then determine how…

For me the activity of working as a group especially with other individuals who I have not worked with or talked to before was a good learning experience that had both positive and negative outcomes using Driscoll’s model of reflection as a frame work to elaborate on how I interpreted what happened, what impact the situation had on me and what I will do in the future if presented with a similar situation (Driscoll and Teh, 2001). We were required to do a 10 minute presentation for a health promotion project that we developed. I decided to work with other individuals who I didn’t know and have not worked with before as I believed I would be more productive and respectful if I worked with people I didn’t know very well. For the first tutorial…

A low point was when the video couldn’t load and we had to start from scratch again.…

Modern society has a yearning for innovation. The constant emergence of new technology and social movements move people to anticipate when the next progressive idea will arise and modify current practices. Society’s belief that new means better forces them to jump from one trend to the next without considering possible shortcomings. In the book, “To Save Everything, Click Here: The Folly of Technological Solutionism,” Evgeny Morozov uses the internet to explore how focusing too much on the benefits of an invention may not only distract from its faults, but also distract from ongoing social issues. In “An Army of One: Me,” Jean Twenge identifies how social issues came second place to a social movement by explaining how “Generation Me” learned…

Have you ever wondered how many people have temptations to get things right away? For example a four year old has been tested with the marshmallow experiment. They have a choice of getting one marshmallow at that moment or to get two marshmallows if the kid could wait fifteen minutes until Mischel comes back into the room. Most of the kids had a struggle on waiting for fifteen minutes because the marshmallow was right in front of them so they kept looking at it and some kids who wanted to wait would kick the desk, the girls would pull on her pigtails, or they would cover their eyes. There are also some adult and young teens or even kids who may have other temptations for example shopping.…

Introduction In this reflection, I will focus on some important topics such as, what I learned about individual and business taxation from this course, what was my experience with the group project and what were the challenges that I faced during both the group project and this course. I am also going to add some main overall points that I learned. Tax is generally an amount of money that is charged by a government on a product, income, or activity so that it can pay for public services. In addition, there are several very common types of taxes: • Income Tax (a percentage of individual or corporate earnings filed to the government) • Sales Tax (taxes charged on certain goods and services) • Property Tax (taxes charged on the value of land…
