In the alchemist Santiago learns about a lot about the world during his journey to find his treasure. On this journey he had meet people that help guided him to his treasure and taught him certain things about the world. For instance, he meet the old king in a city while he was sitting on a bench while reading a book. During their conversation the king was telling Santiago about the world's greatest lie, personal legends, and many more. But, the most important lesson he taught Santiago was about omens and how he should pay attention to them to find his treasure. Another teacher that Santiago had was the Alchemist.
