Safety on college campuses has developed to be a major issue around the United States, causing a widespread concern for students. The recent problems can be a result of many issues such as local individuals coming on campus, lack of security, drugs, alcohol, and more. The issues are causing safety to be a growing concern on college campuses and the complications need to be addressed by the president, administrators, campus police, and security. In order for college administrators and staff to address safety trepidations, they must be aware of the safety concerns present on their campus.

When attending a university or college, one may be at risk of being robbed, raped, or assaulted. College classes are held in the morning and at night. At many colleges, it is not uncommon for students to have classes late in the afternoon. With classes starting so late, this can put students at risk when leave class at night. University safety is a broad topic and has various perspectives from different point of views. To avoid bias and personal opinions, all questions were true or false, yes or no, or gave specific answers to choose from. To ensure equalization amongst students, all surveys administered had the exact same questions. Both males and females were given the opportunity to participate in the campus safety research study. No specific age group was excluded, as there was a depiction of the different age categories included. In addition to sex and age, residential status had a great impact when conducting the study on safety due to the fact that not all university students reside in dormitory or university student apartments. Transportation to campus was another important factor when addressing university safety. Not only can it be unsafe on campus, but traffic can also be dangerous. Traffic can pose a threat to one’s wellbeing, whether someone is driving themselves, relying on public transportation and even university shuttles. Another aspect when determining campus safety is the location of someone when they are feeling unsafe and the time of day. If someone is in a passageway where there is inadequate lighting, they might feel unsafe, whereas some may not. Multiple factors are associated with the
