Before we even arrive at college, the only thing on most peoples’ minds is finding a roommate. Countless hours are spent on Facebook and other social media talking to and trying to find someone suitable to live with. This is a good idea, however the social media barrier allows for lies to be told. Someone we thought was exactly like us, could in reality be nothing like us. Most of these lies do not come out until we are actually living with this person. Roommates are one of the most important aspects of college life, and what type one gets can make or break the college experience. Out of the three choices of roommates, acquaintance, best friends or enemies; my roommate, Stephanie, and I fall under the acquaintance category. Both of us get along really well, and never have problems, but at the same time we don’t do much together. We both have separate friend groups and enjoy doing different things. This works out well for us because then we never fight or run into conflict. The two of us have the same basic values which is why our living situation works out so well. …show more content…
In order to uphold this we each take turns cleaning the room and making sure our side is clean. This leaves no room for conflict and we are both happy living in the clean environment. We can get along when we are together and in the same room, but at the same time, both have separate lives outside of the dorm room. This situation leads to an amazing college experience because it allows for more freedom. It creates an environment where we are able to go out and make our own friends, and at the end of the day come back to the room and not worry about
