The first right that I chose to examine is the freedom to express yourself. I believe that this is probably one of the most important rights that American citizens have. This right includes the right to free speech, freedom to assemble, and the right to petition the government. In a free society citizens should be able to speak freely without the threat of being stopped by the government. Any of my personal views that I have expressed are protected under free speech. Obviously there are some exceptions if I were to obstruct someone else's freedoms, or to endanger others. Responsible citizens that are able to speak and express themselves freely are a core part of democracy.
