Respect is often called a behavioral element, as a person judges the others on the basis of their actions, words, and behavior (Fromm). Thus, respect helps us to accept a certain trait demonstrated by another person in spite of the fact whether we like it or not. Along with the qualities or skills that we personally appreciate, we learn to respect those who own them. At this point, we can assume that respecting a person does not come naturally, but formulates in a long-lasting process of self-identification (Fromm).

• Before making a decision that can affect another person just ask him/her “How would you feel if...?”
• Do not interrupt your opponent in the discussion or daily conversations.
• Take into consideration his/her opinion.
• Try to understand the beliefs, needs, and values of another person before commenting on his/her opinion.
• Voluntarily make changes and compromises to support feelings, needs, and desires of another person.
• Avoid trying to impose your opinion on others or to convince someone to do something he/she does not want to do.
