R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Respect is more than just a deep admiration, it is an action, a behavior, a state of being. In American culture, the marriage is a mutual focus. The woman and man are equal. Out of respect, the men will wash dishes, while the women tend to cook. In Latino cultures, the main focus is, the man. They act upon a belief of Machismo. The man has rights and powers over his wife, she is considered inferior. It would be a great disrespect to ask a Latino male to do the wifely duties, such as, washing dishes. This is how different respect is and can be shown in marriages and in different cultures. Now, all of these different forms of respect have come from a deep admiration, but respect is much more than a feeling, it is an action. Respect, is …show more content…
It can also be acted out in many different ways. Respect is not contempt. It is not the act of making someone feel beneath oneself or less-deserving. It is not disdain. It is not to despise. It is to act accordingly, not only to ones own moral compass but to the moral compass of those around one. Each person, place or thing deserves a certain respect. One does not talk during the movie at movie theaters. One does not take clothing, off the hangars at Walmart and leave them thrown vicariously in the aisles. One does not swear in front of one’s parents, pastors, and teachers. One does not act out in front of police or one’s grandparents. These actions being exhibited in these few examples, are all forms of respect. There is also another interpretation of the word Respect. In listing the different ways that certain situations can go, one list the respects. When describing the points, details, and a particular aspect, one describes the respects. The definition essay was right, in every respect. The violence on TV is worse than the violence on TV in the late 1960’s in all respects.
