Why People Behave the Way they do Human behavior plays an important role in nearly every aspect of life. The way people perceive themselves versus the way they are perceived by others is often the source of friction in the workplace, families, and life in general. This friction comes in the form of arguments, failure to meet the expectations of others, and other various factors that many people have to deal with in daily life. One’s internal factors are the cause of how they interact with us. Self-concept consist of our ideal self and our ideal image. Our ideal self takes into account all of our Values, Assumptions, Beliefs, and, expectations (VABES). Factors such as what we see as good and bad, and right and wrong have an enormous impact on the person we strive to be. The self-image is our comparison of who we are and our current self-image, versus who need to be, in comparison to our ideal self. All people have an ideal image because the ideal image is a culmination of all of our VABES. Very few see their self-image on perfect tract with their ideal self. The difference is how a person interprets this difference. If one sees their ideal as attainable, and they are contempt with who they are in their current state then they are self-actualized. If you want the ability to deal with others and understand the internal factors that contribute to their external behaviors, then you must first determine your own internal factors and be content with them. We can ensure we are self-actualized by first meeting our physiological demands, followed by a sense of security, social stability and self-esteem. In a work environment you may have to deal with others that really may despise you no matter what you do, so it is very important that the basic needs for self-actualization come from a family member or friend that has unconditional love and support for you.
