Teenagers are at the age where they are trying to find themselves, and figure out ‘who they are’. Clothing is an easily accessible item that can help a student to outwardly express oneself in his or her own way. When a school requires them to all dress the same, I can see how this may result in the lack of freedom of expression that many parents and students are angry about. In spite of all the outcry and anger from some parents and (most likely) the students, uniforms have so far proven to be successful, and there are other ways for a student to express oneself.
It can also be said that a requirement of school uniforms in the public school districts will grant every student in equal chance of judgment. Appearance is a rather huge debacle in a student’s life.
