Religion is a very powerful belief system. There are so many diverse religions across the world. Yet, the one problem is, is that everyone believes their religion is the only one true religion. This creates almost like a ticking time bomb whenever you bring up religion. Somehow it always ends badly. Throughout this course we have had the long debate whether one is able to define religion? With it being such a touchy topic it makes it difficult to talk openly about. From this class I believe that I have been able to understand how to go about thinking and studying religion. For example, when we talked about the making of The 99 comic, the main goal of the comic was to give children a better view and understanding of the religion of Muslims. Where many people have the prejudice of Muslims being very radical and violent. Yet, when the comic was first created it got many mixed feelings within the Muslim community because, it is against the religious views to humanize the workings of Allah. However, the creator and other fellow Muslims believe it only incorporates the virtues that he wants to spread through us. It is better for children to see a fun and easy way to connect to the religion rather than seeing the radical and dangerous side of it. When thinking about religion it is very hard not to have some negative affect. Someone will always find some issue when you are trying to express religion in a unique or different way. You must be able to respect their ideals and be able to see it from their point of view. Furthermore, when we are thinking about religion having an open mind allows us to see connection between religions. When we talked about the environmental issues that we as humans are facing today many religions came together in a Faith and Ecology Conference in Jerusalem to talk about the issues. Major religious figures came together to discuss the environment issues that we are facing, even in the birthplace of Christianity, and how it is our duty
