Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs. Whether it is religion or personal preference, people like to have their opinions. People often force their opinion on others and think they should have the same opinions because they think their opinion is “fact.” Some people do not have an open mind to listen to or accept that others can have their own views on things. I had a terrible experience once where a normal jog around the neighbor turned into a heated argument. This story takes place in my hometown of Cheraw, SC. Cheraw is one of those towns you pass through that is over before you know it. There is oak trees everywhere. You cannot turn a corner without see a tree. Some people will talk down to others just because they do not have the same beliefs that they have. My good friend was treating me like he was a better person than me. I could not believe who I was talking to. I felt like I was talking to whole other another person. I had seen a new side of him that never seen before and I have known for practically my whole life. It was crazy to see how different he was acting. After this, I noticed he took religion a lot more serious than I do. I mean I take religion very seriously but I would not try to force my beliefs on others. It’s as if he was going to fight me just because I was not on his side in this argument. I was about five seconds from just telling him we cannot be friends anymore because of it.
This situation made me realize how serious and dangerous religion can be. Because of our difference in religion, it almost ruined our friendship. Then I thought about all the situations in the world today and the reasoning behind it. The Muslim cult is killing people because of their different beliefs. If someone doesn’t agree with their religion then they will fight against them. This conversion almost turned me off religion in all because of all the trouble it had
