Personal Narrative: How Lung Cancer Has Changed My Life

It is amazing how people can take life for granted knowing that something could happen to them at any moment. I never thought much about it either, until I was faced with the realization that death could happen at any moment. In this case, it took having my grandmother diagnosed with lung cancer to finally realize the undeniable truth about death, and how everything can change in the blink of an eye.

In November of 2013, I was just getting used to the idea of being a junior in high school, and dealing with the pressure of ACT’s, and college applications. After I had found out that my grandmother was diagnosed with lung cancer, I had never seen anyone more determined to fight back against cancer and still try to keep up a casual life style. During her battle of treatments, she lived her life to the fullest and left no regrets. Within less than a year, my grandma was able to see my mom get re-married, have a cancer benefit/walk held for her at Relay For Life, and was also able to see dozens of family members from all around the U.S who visited …show more content…
My grandma changed my life for the better, and made me into the person that I am today and I am grateful for what she has done. Losing my grandma taught me to live life to its fullest potential and strive for the things that I truly want to succeed in life.
