Implementing technology and science into everyday learning is shown to increase test scores, and that’s why I believe America should increase the budget for education. Buying computers for our classrooms won’t necessarily help America’s ACT and SAT scores, but using those computers for science or math programs could. It would also lead to many students discovering and fostering a love for science, sequentially pursuing a career in a program such as engineering. At my high school, I participate in a program known as Peer Tutoring, in which I assist younger students with various homework or classwork assignments. In order to ensure students understand what I’m teaching, I create review games on a website known as Kahoot!, which tests students’ knowledge on certain subjects while giving them playful competition with their classmates. Kahoot! has shown us that students love learning when it’s a game, or competitive in any aspect. Finally, I believe that America’s education system is stunted due to the fact that many teachers receive a job they soon realize they didn’t want, resulting in haphazard teaching habits. The process for teacher licensure should become more rigorous; those who are unsure about the teaching profession should learn whether the occupation is right for them early on, just in case they decide changing their major is the optimal choice for
