A psychosocial rehabilitation specialist noted, “Psychology strives to change, influence, or control behavior to make constructive and lasting changes in people 's lives” (Cherry). Psychologists have plentiful opportunities to help people with numerous problems, including mental health, social anxiety, bullying, and criminal activity. It does not always have to be about one’s salary or material goods, but dedicating his/her spare time to those in need as well. Various skills are required and necessary with this major and intended profession. Resourcefulness, problem solving, and positivity can be used to assist the less fortunate by running therapy groups, assisting emergency hotlines, and volunteering at diverse programs. European psychologist, Nicky Hayes, wrote, “The study of psychology, in itself, produces a particular type of awareness and some core knowledge that is shared by most, if not all, psychologists” (Hayes). This profession can help so many people worldwide and there will never be a day when psychologists will not be needed.
