The Importance Of Receiving Support Over Social Media

Social media can be a great way to receive support from family and friends. When others know what events are coming up in the near future or struggles that you are going through, they send support in the most convenient way, on social media. Due to distance or schedules people cannot give support in person to they turn to social media to send the support. When our family went through the time in the hospital with Tommy due to his stroke anyone and everyone sent support over social media. The support became overwhelming to know so many people care and were there to help us through the struggle. Everyone was sending support, but was also watching for updates. If they did not see a update for a couple days they would contact one of us to see how Tommy was doing. Even though social media at points can be harmful, the ways it can help are astonishing. Many of people's friends end up being people they do not know in person. This can be frightening at times. When someone posts about how they are struggling and they get a message from someone they do not know, it can leave them wondering who they are and why they care about our problem. I have received support from a friend from my dads account after they saw a post on the trip out west I was going on. Even though the post was not on a struggle I was having, the support of enjoying and learning was a wonderful feeling. I felt confused at first because I did not know who the person was, but took the support to help prepare for struggles which would appear while I was on the trip. Support is not always for when a person is struggling with something, it can be a wish good luck to know someone has your back no matter what happens. Receiving support from a stranger can be more rewarding then from the people you know. It is rewarding to know many people support you and want you to succeed in whatever it is you go
