The Importance Of Reading And Writing For Reading

As a fourteen year old I did not spend that much time reading or writing for pleasure, I usually would not even read or write for school. I spent most of my time watching movies, and television shows, along with playing video games. I took an embarrassing amount of time to finish each page, and most of the time once I finished a page I would have to re read the page since I was not able to fully understand it. If I had proper literacy skills I would not have had an issue, or at least a much easier time reading it. I finished a couple weeks before the premier of the second season, the whole reason of me reading the book was so I could continue the story instead of having to wait. I decided to reading the series before I would continue watching the show, only due to how better the novels were to the show. I never thought the book was going to be better than the show, but the show could not even compare to the book. The show was missing so much due to the fact that it was a television show, I never knew how great reading could be, despite all of my literacy handicaps I was immersed into one of the greatest fictional stories I had ever been able to witness. If not for that I would not have continued reading, and instead would have just stuck with watching the

Even in school it was hard for me to read because it was boring I would be falling asleep in class trying to be reading a book every time there was just something about it I couldn’t do it but like he said page 52 “it didn’t bother me if I was the lowest reader in class”. In my English/reading classes we would have to read a book and then write about so I would skim it and then write my essay. But this is probably why I really don’t…

I did not want to simply read the text, but to understand the characters and bring them to life. I would be lying if I said I loved this book, but I admire the way it confronted my thoughts. Confusing would be an understatement for this book. The way characters jumped in and out was not what I expected. After warming up with a few chapters, I started to admire the uniqueness of this format.…

I always read as a kid. I was the small boy who plowed through books day and night, my mom scrambling to and from the library just to keep up with me. I feel sad that I spend less and less days staying up to midnight just to read one ... more … page.…

It took a little over three weeks of intensive reading to finish the book and was the hardest read I have encountered this year. The book seemed to simply list events, rather than tell a collective story. It wasn’t until I reached near the ending that I realized how all the events started to tie together. I found myself going back in the story to re-read many parts of the book after I had read something to help me understand that certain part. I also read this book within a set time frame while working full time.…

When I Learned to Read and Write. I first started reading and writing in preschool, my teacher was very helpful and did everything she could do to help me achieve goals, and become who I am today. When I was younger I would pretend that I could read and I would read to all of my toys. In preschool, my teacher saw me trying to read so she came over to me and started to help me sound out the words and form the sentences so that I could read. The first book I read was Dr.Seuss’ “Green, Eggs and Ham.”…
