Register to read the introduction… In the mist of all my traveling up and down the east coast, I managed to stay active. Before I reached the second grade, I was already involved in ballet, as well as other dance genres, and basketball. Every Christmas I participated in the performance of “The Chocolate Nutcracker” down in Florida. Starting in fourth grade I discontinued dancing and involved myself in cheer-leading as a flyer. Besides playing sports, I was a highly active writer. Growing up writing was my passion: from short stories, poems, songs, to essays. I managed to participate in any and every writing contest presented to me. In the fourth grade, I entered a poetry contest on the definition of a true friend and was awarded with the publication of my poem in a poetry book of Virginian writers. In the fifth grade, I entered an essay contest about my hero and won second place in the state for my grade level, as well as a $100 savings bond. In middle school I wanted to learn how to play an instrument so I began learning how to play the violin. Midway through my training, I was forced to transfer to a different school in a different state that did not offer an orchestra class, therefore, putting a pause on learning how to play the …show more content…
As a child, I knew I wanted to pursue in a military career so I entered the Junior Reserve Officer Training Core, also known as JROTC. In the course I participated in many drill meets that required a lot of practice after school and waking up anywhere between 3 and 5 in the morning on a Saturday for competition. Throughout the years, I still continued to write up until June, the end of my ninth grade year, when my grandfather passed away. I wrote a poem entitled “Hot Salty Tears” that was read at his funeral, this was the last poem I've written since. No longer writing and just being involved in JROTC, didn't fit my active lifestyle causing me to seek another talent. In the beginning of my tenth grade year I took a chance and tried out for my schools step team. Not knowing one thing about step, I actually made the team. I continued to step midway through my sophomore year until I had to stop do to unrelated issues. As of now I am involved in JROTC and a dance ministry called “Embraced by Wings”, where we attend different places and preform praise dances as well as feed and donate to the less fortunate. In whatever spare time I have I enjoy reading and babysitting my baby

POST #2 Watching Carlos lecture on recitatif, this is an informative and gives us a wider view of how racism goes about and how we are all participants in it no matter what we perceive ourselves to be. He starts by giving us two names and ask us to pick which race the two belong too. And he gives you a few seconds to make your judgment. He then says, if you made a judgement or even thought about who belongs to what race, its shows you identify with race. I will agree with him on that, because if you don’t identify with race, you should not think or make a judgment.…

What do you think of when you hear racism the KKK or maybe the Nazis, but there are so much more difficult facets to the complex anomaly. Racism can be far more delicate and tricky, and many people of different races face this informal, everyday racism more often than we think. Throughout the thickening 20th century as racism became extraordinarily rampant, blacks trying to elevate their status/living standards through mechanisms like buying their own house, creating their own businesses,1 and many other options were vehemently protested by racist white men who still wanted the feel of superiority over minority races.1 The sickening actions like the razing of the black city Rosewood, Florida in 19231 and the destruction of the “Black Wall Street,”1 are horrid examples of ways racists would keep the minority population down to a low simmer, but what kind of reparations shall we giveth for what we have taketh? Furthermore, some victims of this fervent violence are still living to this today,1 and despite the long-lasting egregious acts of racism America had to bear, America did near nothing during the civil rights era, in terms of…

Since I have memory, I remember coming to the United States of America to buy clothes with my family, more than twice a year. The government does not have the ability to help the so called racist average death, imprisonment, homelessness or employment between blacks and whites.
