Rewind thousands of years to when those historical events were history in the making, they all started somewhere. Someone spoke up or took a stand, and an idea was born. I feel like you should be proud of what you stand for. If you don’t have faith in something then why would anyone else want to put their faith into that something? One of the biggest problems we face today is racism. Although racism is still a problem, it is definitely less of a problem than it was a hundred years ago. Rosa Parks was one of the most widely noticed people to take a stand against Racism, and made a huge stepping stone for the Equality Movement. Rosa Parks did not give up her seat on the bus to a white person. She took a stand for what she believed in. She also spoke up, and backed her decision and spoke up in the name of equality. Everyone’s opinions and beliefs are important, and everyone should speak up for what they stand for. Sometimes you only have one shot at things, and if you never take the chance you will never know if the shot paid off or not. It’s the same way with speaking up, if you don’t speak up or stand up, you may never know what would have come out of that. I remember hearing a story about a cancer researcher. He was so used to unsuccessful attempts at finding the cure for cancer that he stopped writing down any of his work. He gave up in himself; he didn’t feel like his work was important. Then he found the cure to cancer. The only problem was, he didn’t write it down. Don’t let something like that happen to you, I feel like you need to be proud of what you do, you need to be able to take a stand and speak for the work that you put in.
