Mcdonald's Qualitative Research

Qualitative Research is primarily exploratory research. It is used to gain an understanding of underlying reasons, opinions, and motivations. It provides insights into the problem or helps to develop ideas or hypotheses for potential quantitative research. Qualitative Research Methods gives would-be practitioners enough practical instruction to allow them to undertake, analysis and report research (Edwards, 2008, p. 238). The tow companies that I have been consistently doing research on are McDonalds and Walmart. Both of these companies use exploratory to increase their customer base and to ensure they are providing quality products to them. McDonalds’ methods of research include putting a product on the menu for a specific amount of time to see if it is something consumers actually want. If the sales are subpar then the item will not make it to the permanent menu. When the item does very well, it is more likely that it will become an item on the current menu. The research that is conducted for McDonalds is extensive and arduous. They spend millions on a product just to see if it will be successful. They …show more content…
This research pays off in so many ways, that organizations must continue rigid research to be successful. Some of the smaller companies may see qualitative research as expensive and challenging, but they fail to understand the benefits that come with extensive research. Research is involved in everything from purchasing a new bicycle to purchasing your first home. Everyone can receive abundant benefits from doing their research. For companies research can make millions, failure to conduct research could result in millions being lost. Without research society as a whole would stand still and not learn anything new.
