In reality, public policy issues are all around us. As a matter of fact, they are publicized in social media, magazines, legal documents, newspapers, and on the internet. Nevertheless, there is not a business or organization that can operate without associating with public policy. Equally important, every business owner and organization should study public policy and understand its processes. According to Kraft and Furlong (2013), “public policy is a course of government action or inaction in response to public problems. It is associated with formally approved policy goals and means, as well as the regulations and practices of agencies that implement programs” (p. 2).

In the meantime, Williams and Fromberg (2012) suggest that a central issue between public policy and early childhood education for children between the age’s birth and eight is redefining the nation’s public responsibility to provide an equitable and rational national policy for early learning. More so, these children will spend a large amount of their time in early childhood learning environments. In 2012, it was reported by Child Trends Data Bank that someone other than the parents of more than 60% of children from birth to eight years will provide care for them (Couchenour and Chrisman, 2016). In history, state and federal level’s policy¬ makers have continued to debate budgetary priories, which often leads to funding education secondary (Ikpa, 2016). As financial difficulties keep on squeezing state spending funds, comprehending the correlations between public expenditures and educational production turns out to be progressively critical at both the large scale and miniaturized scale policy levels (Neely and Diebold, 2016). Understanding the role of public policy as a leader in early childhood education is critical. These leaders can be placed in key positions to make a change in our educational system for early learning. Children need to be heard. They are our future; leaders in education must take a stand to make sure that their involvement in public policy will help improve early learning education for all
