I have personal experience with public and private school. Some may say I got the best of both worlds, in some aspects I have, but I also got the worst. American education has really gone downhill compared to other countries around the world. America is viewed as a lazy country and I totally agree with that. Many people want to do the bare minimum to get by and that may have something to do with students underperforming. American education is very flawed, however it is necessary. I was a student of a private catholic school from kindergarten to the eighth grade. Now that I am older, I realize how terrible the structure and education was. From kindergarten it was drilled into me and my classmate’s minds that if we were to get a question wrong that it was just the worst thing that could possibly happen and on top of that it was embarrassing. That fear of being wrong followed me into high school. Another issue I had was the fact we had to stand in a perfectly straight line and were not allowed to speak and if we were out of line just a little, we would not get to go to lunch, recess, or to go home. Only until we fixed the line and close our mouths we were able to go to leave. Even then we marched to in a straight line to wherever like little …show more content…
I was always greeted by at least two teacher, a police officer, and the vice principal. They were always ready to pounce on any one who, in their eyes, were not dressed appropriately. The consequence for not dressing appropriate was; they would call your parents and send you home to change. I remember how worried the faculty would be about students not attending school but then they would send students home for such petty things like the way they dressed. Most of the time the students that got sent home would not even return to school. How are kids supposed to learn if they are not in school? If my high school would have cracked down on the people who are not attending school rather than the ones that are, in my opinion, there would have been a better a higher attendance
