The scientific lack of research on the possible influence of both personality and friendship interactions/satisfaction is mind boggling in that aspect, I would add even stranger, when talking about teenagers or young adults (while I cannot speak for everyone, I can definitely say that in my personal experience, friends were a bid deal in my teen years and are still nowadays a big deal in my adulthood life). On that matter, I absolutely agree with the author 's statement that personality psychology should focus more on friendship satisfaction and will even state that they need to team up on development to further determine how personality may impact friendship development overall. Onto the second aspect of these reflection: the future potential for research this paper offers. As I said earlier, I truly believe that this study has a lot of good elements to it: not only does it confirm certain elements surrounding personality and friendship satisfaction, it also bring in a lot of good information about how to address both the study 's limitations and the potential leads this study could …show more content…
More specifically, I wish to see what traits in particular seem to contribute to a "quality" friendship over time. It would be interesting to be able to follow friendships that were formed during adolescence and see which traits have a strong impact in predicting the friendship satisfaction as well as overall strength, later on when being young adults. My guess would be that extravertness and agreeableness be the main indicators for overall lifetime friendship, but for some reason I have an intuitive sense that agreeableness may be a higher predictor of a longer sturdy friendship. This would be one research interest that I would see as a potential lead from the results of this paper. Additionally, I would also be interested in seeing if whether certain combinations of traits (for example, high introvert, low neuroticism and high agreeableness combination) may still impact friendship overall (would the friendship be strong, mediocre, or neutral?). This would be another potential aspect that I would be interested in seeing (or even better participate in). To conclude, I thought this study was truly interesting, no doubt because of my interest in the impact of personality and social interactions, but moreover because I think that this study was concise, careful and full of potential leads and information in regards to potential research.
