Every parent has heard the mantra that fruits and veggies are best for a growing child. They also know how hard it is getting a little one to choose greens and berries over fish sticks and sugary cereals! Therefore, it should not come as a surprise that only one in fifty children eat a well balanced diet. Many parents are left feeling perplexed about what to feed their children. It’s not all doom and gloom though. Thankfully, there is an increased understanding of the truth about processed foods and more parents are selecting fresh foods where possible.Here is a list of things your child should never eat again. Nitrates are a factor in heart disease and in some cancers. These meats are really fillings with cereals that are added to “create” a concoction mixed together, solidified, and conveniently called “meat.” These so-called meats have a ton of salt as well. Salads, cheese, and nut spreads are a better choice. Fruit Snacks: These are not fresh apples and grapes we are referring to here. We’re talking about those packages and boxes of sugars and chemicals disguised as fruit that light-up the eyes of unsuspecting children. They claim to be made with “real fruit” conveniently compressed and wrapped in plastic. Colorful and “fruity looking” rolls and gummies are generally more sugar and coloring than actual fruit and they wreck havoc on children’s teeth. To be honest, they are more like candy disguised as fruit and should be completely avoided. Not all fruit snacks are the same. For instance, some are made with dried-fruit mixed with sweeteners, additives, and other stuff. And there are fruit snacks made with 100% real, unsweetened fruit.
