For them to run down a field score and touch down or skate down the ice to score a goal, or even stand at base hitting a ball out the park. All though things are what we as kids do growing up, so why do they get paid so much as adults to do things we all did growing up? Athletes get paid too much for what they do, no matter if they play the whole game or are injured; they still get paid the same amount of money. It’s just a sport for us civilians to sit back and help entertain us. So why should they get paid so much money. Difference in income between athletes; teachers, and even other every day civilians who work very hard for their money and what they have. We live in a world that says you cannot get a job after high school without a college education. A lot of these pro athletes went to a college, they had to attend classes. The packers signed Arron Rodgers new contract in 2013 for 5 years having him paid $110 million dollars, making him the highest paid player in the NFL. He got hurt two weekend ago playing the Vikings, so he is out of work so like normal people you would have to file a workmen’s comp claim correct and wait for it all to go through getting paid. What about when cops get hurt in the line of duty or what about the men and woman that are fighting to protect our families gets hurt and gets a honorable discharge. Due to the increasing popularity of college sports in the United States, individuals have begun to question whether college athletes should be paid like professionals. But college athletes are students and amateur players, meaning that college athletes are not given money to play a sport. Student-athletes attend college to get an education, not to be paid to play a sport. Already compensating athletes for playing are scholarships. Also, paying athletes would cause countless problems.…

Some may agree, and most of them make a compelling point as to why they shouldn’t. Some of these points are because the athletes get paid already in scholarships and specific aids. As Rebecca Zissou states in the article, “Fair Play: Should College Athletes Get Paid?” "Many top players receive tuition, books, tutoring, housing, meals, clothing, elite coaching, medical care, travel expenses, and career counseling. " What she fails to mention is that most of these things that the athletes receive only cover a small portion of the actual whole cost of living and learning, and being sheltered, and traveling; the list could go on.…

This is because of the myth of amateur athletes, Fans who think its wrong to be paying athletes frequently refer to the "free education" student-athletes receive and, indeed there is some value to what they learn on campus however the education is conditioned on their health and success which always comes second to athletics. If a student athlete is hurt or unsuccessful, the coaches and administrators suddenly discard the noble ideals of "education" and a player is left with nothing. Fans would no doubt feel differently about the issue if a student-athlete were in their own family. Moreover, no one mentions the lifetime of health care bills that await some student-athletes in contact sports. How can a "free education" compensate them for debilitating injuries caused during their time on campus?…

Many Division 1 athletes can receive up to $60,000 multiyear scholarships and some Division 2 athletes can receive partial scholarships. They are getting these scholarships to help pay for an education because most of them can’t afford to go to a Division 1 or Division 2 school. Also these players are bringing in money for their schools by TV contracts, advertising, merchandising and ticket sales. The top men’s basketball and football teams can bring in about $140 million a year and by doing that, it can help them have those scholarships. Another reason I don’t think that college athletes should get paid, is because they are getting a free education…

Have you ever watched football on t.v and wondered if the players on each team should get paid if you do not just set there and think about the time and hard work like training building muscle mass just to play for a professional football team, does it change your mind. I think the coaches and school should continue paying the players to play. One reason that pro football players should get paid is that they start in high school and play football in college then when draft day comes they hope and pray that they were good enough to get selected by the national football league to play for one of the teams. Then they train to build muscle and drop calories to meet the standards that the NFL wants them to meet in order to play. Then the players work on the of the position they play for example a wide receiver may work on foot work and catching, and a running back may work…

Why college athletes should be paid In 2007 a collegiate football player, Stanley Doughty, gave up his senior year to play for the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL and was signed to play for $400,000 for the next 2 years, but found out later that he had a cervical spine injury and he was one hit away from being paralyzed so he was cut by the Chiefs. He needed surgery for it but South Carolina, the college he went to, refused to pay for it even though these players make billions of dollars for their colleges every year (TheAtlantic). These colleges obviously just care about making money and using the players for their sake. If Doughty was able to receive some type of benefit for playing he would have been better off, but instead he has no college…

College athletes provide entertainment for their school and millions of other people, but they are still not getting paid for their extreme work ethic, their commitment to their sport or school and most importantly, because of the amount of money they help the school to make. The NCAA makes billions of dollars each year because of the ability of their players to entertain a crowd. Even with all of this money coming in they still don’t have to pay their players. So essentially they have built a business system that generates billions each year off of the hard work of these players and they don’t have to pay them for it. Most…
