Should Outsiders Be Allowed To Tour To Prison Essay

In all cases I do believe that outsiders should be allowed to tour prison and jails to mostly analyze for themselves to see if touring an environment such as an incarcerated facility is a good idea. I understand that many scholars do not agree that people should tour due to the danger and other circumstances of the jails and prison but I do feel it would give those a better understanding on how staff and inmates perform in such as hostile setting. Without a doubt, your always gone hear bad things about being locked up but in reality going to jail is not supposed to be fun. Prison is a facility that is meant for criminals who commit a crime and have their freedom taken away under the authority as a form of a punishment. Being incarcerated does also mean a bad thing because many people grow inside the facility as well and some just do not. I thought the staff were going to be strict and unfriendly but they actually was happy to see young college students getting a little snip of the prison life. Going into this prison I thought they were going to be very high security but I was wrong. I was very shocked that we did not have to go through the metal detector or even give up our keys to the front desk officer. So, after talking to the tour guide she explain that they were a medium risk prison but they did have some high risk security for certain levels. Many Correction Officers explained to us what they role were in the prison and answered all the questions we had for them.
