Narrative Essay On Preschool Age Children

Improved Essays
I really wasn’t sure where, when or how I was going to complete this assignment. Although there are a lot of people in Ann Arbor, there weren’t many children to watch. I did end up finding the perfect time and place to do it. On September 13, 2015, I had to go to my grandparent’s house in Dearborn, Michigan for a family dinner. My grandparents live right next to a park, so I felt as if this was the perfect opportunity to study some preschool age children. I went to the park with my teenage cousins and let them play basketball, while I watched children play. I watched a little boy and a little girl play together. I am not sure if they are siblings, or cousins or even just friends. I think the little boy was a little bit younger than the little …show more content…
The four of them then came back and ate their ice cream on a bench. They took a very long time to eat it. The whole ordeal probably took around 30 minutes. They all then went to the bathroom to clean up. When they came back they went back to playing on the playground. They seemed much more energized. The kids just went up to other kids on the playground and just randomly started to play with them. These other kids spoke English right away, so the kids that I was watching started to speak in English as well, which was so nice. I could finally understand what was going on. Why is it so easy for children to make friends?
All the kids were telling jokes and laughing like crazy. Some of the things that they said were actually really funny. If I wasn’t looking like a creeper watching these kids and actually had little kids with me, I would have joined them or something. I think the best part of the whole day was when the little girl from earlier started to sing “Let It Go” from Frozen. It took everything in me not to sing along. Why is this song so catchy? After about ten more minutes of singing and playing with other kids, it was unfortunately time for them to leave. They all said goodbye to their new friends and went

From my current placement I have experience of working with a child going through this transition, this had a very big effect on the child holistically. It became obvious to me that the child was very worried and unsettled about this transition as we noticed a negative change in the child's behaviour as he started becoming aggressive to other children and started a tendency to play alone and withdraw himself from the class. There was also a significant decrease in his school work performance as he was very withdrawn and found it difficult to communicate with the other children and sometimes staff. Working within the multi-agency team we introduced this child to an advocate which acted as a professional friend and from this we saw a slight improvement in the child's holistic development and behaviour. When working within the school team, we were part of the multi-agency team who contributed to…

The Kindergartner who was outside to play unsupervised got into a fight. I was meant to watch how he was doing, do a lap and ask how he was playing, while outside he was running around and said, “They are telling secretes about me and they are not telling”. After that he ran away to the playground with the swings, and slide. I walked behind him trying to understand what was going on, as he ran as soon as he told me that statement. While walking up the steps in the slide one of the supposed kids who was telling secretes was in front of him.…

I am the oldest child. I have two younger siblings who I love unconditionally, but life as the oldest child is not the picnic most people think it is. I know this probably sounds cliché, becoming who I am because of my siblings, but it is the truth without them I would not be the person I am today. When I was four years old my mother became pregnant with my sister. My sister, Madison was born seven months before I turned five.…

I do not have a website for the Children Project. It was a small project, and I mainly gather with friends and students who have the same interest as mine in terms of volunteering. I mainly did it during summer and winter break (since I could visit Cambodia during that time). Professionalism is the competence expected and presented by a professional, and among teachers it is important to exhibit professionalism in their careers. Presenting oneself as a professional is important as it will affect their career. A teacher not presenting themselves as a professional can result in students not showing respect towards them, their colleagues not taking them seriously, parents being concerned with their child’s learning, and the certainty of putting a career at risk. Teachers must know how to present themselves with different groups of people, and fully know the roles they must take with these different types of groups. They should present themselves as nurturing yet firm with their students while keeping their boundaries…

The reason I wrote this comic was because of my experience of working over the summer with young children. There were several events that pushed me toward having this experience. Through working with young children where I was a counselor at a summer camp I learned the how much people evolve since childhood. While watching the young children I got to see some events that paralleled many of the experiences that I had when I was a child. The first experience that I had that reminded me of my childhood was when I was at the park…

Children literature includes books, magazines, stories and poems that children enjoy. It can be traced to stories and songs which were part of the oral tradition that adults shared with their children before the advent of publication. The development of children literature is difficult to trace. However, from the 15th century AD, a large volume of literature, often with a religious or moral message, has been targeted specifically at children. Many of the children books acknowledged today as classics can trace their origins to the late 19th and early 20th centuries which become known as the Golden Age of children literature.…
