State colleges should be free to attend because college students have lower poverty rates, are more professional, and college students better society. The poverty rate of the U.S is damaging the economy, as 13.5% (roughly 43.1 million people) live below the poverty line. College graduates make nearly twice as much as high school graduates. The opposition believes that a college degree is not a magic button out of poverty.
Studies show that with a college degree, individuals are able to achieve a higher salary.
