My Opportunity To Promote Positive Social Change

Throughout this program, I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and grown as a professional. The knowledge I have gained has influenced me to promote positive social change. With my gained knowledge, I have impacted others, helped solve issues in my educational environment, and advocated for students. The opportunities that I have created for social change include I will be advocating for the implementation of the push-in model for ELLs in my classroom and our school, joined the literacy leadership team, took part in peer observations, and continuous professional development. During this program, I read an article where schools were implementing a push in model with their ELLs. Traditionally, ELLs are pulled out of the general classroom for explicit language instruction. In order to continue promoting positive social change, I will have to continue learning and stay up-to-date on the latest education news and issues. I will do be able to continue learning and expanding my knowledge through professional development opportunities. First, I will be attending a three-day summer class on Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol. Additionally, I will attend around five technology trainings throughout the year through my school district. Last, I will complete two book studies over the next year with my colleagues. There will be countless opportunities for me to learn and grow as a professional, I will take part in as many as I can to continue to promote social change in my school and community. I have become an agent for positive social change over the course of this program.
