How Do College Students Involvement In Politics

Democracy is “a system of government by the whole population” (Democracy). This is referring to everyone in society, not only the elderly in our communities, but young adults included. While most young adults in America attend college, the majority is in a stage where they are away from home finding independence, but are still free of worries and certain aspects of responsibility. One example of the lack of responsibility is the lack of involvement in politics. Politics plays an important role in everyday life and while many college students believe they don’t relate to this subject, they reality is that they do and it affects their lives immensely. It’s better to speak one’s voice now before it’s too late in certain matters such as minimum wage, health care and college loans. For example, Trumps policy advisor recently stated that “Trump wants to remove the government from the student loans and have private banks lend money to college students instead” (Li). This steadfast proposition will take away a lot of money away from a myriad of students who need the money to attend university. For this reason, young adults need to be aware of what is going and have a say on what they believe should and shouldn’t be done. When it comes to the issue of minimum wage, many government officials believe it’s time to raise the wage but what students don’t know is that this could impact their lives to an extent in a positive or negative way. By increasing the minimum wage, there is a probability that taxes will increase, and employment will decrease (Minimum Wage). Students need to be knowledgeable and aware of the pros and cons by becoming involved and engaging themselves to accommodate to their future
