The Importance Of Poetry

Great Essays
People write for all sorts of reasons. They write to show their emotions in diaries; or regularly blog on a page they 've created saying after every one, from anonymous because they are scared to give out their own identities because of a troubling past. Also a common way of writing is poetry. My senior year English teacher Ms. Sutton told me something that actually made sense to me. Ms. Sutton said, “Poetry is the easiest way to your soul, and poetry can tell your life story just with a couple of words.” Ever since that day I’ve gained more of an interest in poetry.
Before I start talking about Ms. Sutton’s class, I want to pinpoint a very special memory that keeps haunting me. My grandmother was nicknamed “Minnie”, like Minnie Mouse. She got into

My last topic I explained was about me growing up and how my mother is feeling of her baby finally growing up; it doesn’t really help that i’m a mama’s boy. I choose the song from Carrie Underwood called The Mama Song and again I titled it the same as the song. My last poem says…
Mom, oh mom,
I love how everybody know’s i’m a mama’s boy,
I’ve known it since day one,
I can say so many things about you, but i’ll stick to the most important things we’ve been through together,
First off, when you would sing me, “I am your sunshine”,
I would listen to you because you always made me feel special,
I know i’m your so called baby, but that will never be forgotten,
That will always be cherished until the day I die.
Second off you and dad are troopers,
Taking me to my appointments I bet hurt you,
Not as much as seeing me in pain after both of my reconstruction surgeries,
I still wonder how you found the strength to show me that everything is ok.
Now i’m eighteen years old, and about to graduate high

When I write I feel liberated, expressive, creative, and most of all I feel like myself when I write. I love being assigned an essay, or written response because it gives me the opportunity to portray my personality and ora through my words. In my 3 years at high school so far my easiest assignments have always been written; it just comes natural to me. Words can be as sharp as a knife, or as dull as a feather and I live for them.…

Through the following three essays, “Why I Write,” by George Orwell, “Why I Write,” by Joan Didion, and “A Way of Writing,” by William Stafford, a reader can interpret the importance of writing in daily lives. The three authors discuss the significance of writing and it has impacted their personal lives. I was most compelled by Joan Didion’s “Why I Write” because of its ability to encourage everyone to develop an interest in he topic.…

Writing has always been a pastime for me. When I was younger, I loved writing stories just for fun or to have something to share with my family and friends. I remember being able to sit down for hours on end and write full pages worth of writing. Whether it made any sense, had proper grammar, and even if it was legible didn’t matter to me. It was writing that I could truly say was my own and be proud of.…

Writing has always been something I loved to do. I can remember writing stories, poems, journal, and letters every day after school. I can tell one of my own experience or share one as though I am telling a story to my younger siblings. This style of writing also allows me to change the mindset of the reader and stimulate deep thought on the matter at hand. When I first begin writing I decide on my topic. Once I have decided on a topic I begin to think of stories that relate to the topic. For example when writing my Things That Bug Me essay I wrote about racism and how I was irritated by it.…

Writing is a necessity. Most people see it as such; writing serves a purpose, filling out business letters or grant proposals. Writing is an arduous task, to be loathed as a child and grudgingly learned as a college student churning out research papers. In general, people do not like to write. When I was in kindergarten, I learned how to write.…

Going back over my fifth grade notebooks has not once failed to make me laugh and cringe at my boy troubles and lists of cute boys in my class. I love words. I love reading them, writing them and interpreting them. Through all phases of life, I had a usual nature to try and write my feelings down and call it art, even if it were scribbles on a Post-It note. Same goes for the song stanzas I wrote in seventh grade that were really loosely based on a Taylor Swift song and are still relatable today.…

My journal is my connection to the past, and my grip on the future. The root of my journal entries date back to 2009, when my exuberant eight-year old self passionately wrote about the consequential day Barack Obama, the first African American President, was inaugurated into office. Although my grammar skills were clearly not up to par, I created a successful journal entry which solely reflected that of my voice, individuality, and creativeness. Within this entry I even took note of how graceful Michelle Obama was, naively misspelling her name, “Mishelle.” Humorously, I also expressed, “I’m not so sure what a Republican is.”…
