Knowing is half the battle. The second step requires obtaining access to means to protect or enforce their well being. The third step involves the person using their judgement to choose when or if to use the previously mentioned education and resources when they deem it necessary. Planned parenthood provides education on reproduction and reproductive as well as standard health care services such as hiv testing,mammograms, and access to contraceptives. Contraceptives are a means to maintain health. Condoms both male and female help prevent the spread of disease in addition to preventing pregnancy. Abortions do have have negative psychological effects on a female from mild regret to clinical depression. While Planned Parenthood does provide abortion services it only accounts for 3% of their services. Planned Parenthood works to prevent unintended pregnancy not abortion which in term means that abortions will drop in number so women won’t have to feel its effects. Also an abortion may be the only option left because traditional contraceptives have room for error, condoms break, spermicides don’t kill all the sperm, etc. Even with the possible psychological side effects it is still a better option then these women trying to raise the hypothetical child. Trying to care for a child they were not prepared to raise or doing so while not being in a stable financial state would cause an intense amount of stress to the mother which could lead to most of the severe mental side effects of having an abortion. Also it’s a possibility that the mother may end up leaving the child to an orphanage because she can’t raise it and could not or did not have an abortion.
