To live a long and healthy life, individuals need to be aware of both their mental and physical health. Physical health is definitely one of the greatest influences on diseases, but surprisingly, mental health also plays a big role. The brain is the body’s powerhouse, the correct nutrients and diets will empower it and provide advantageous symptoms. Illnesses such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and ADHD can be significantly improved simply by making some lifestyle changes. Even people without mood disorders and mental illnesses can make some adjustments in their lifestyle and experience the benefits of a healthier life. The most valuable way to improve psychological health and energy in daily life is to use positive actions such as dieting and exercising. Dieting is an extremely substantial way to increase mood and mental health. In fact, rather than dieting and eating less, per se, individuals should alter their food intake to optimize the effects. Eating less does not actually help. “Rodent studies indicate that a caloric restricted (CR) diet or alternating feeding with periods of fasting reduces deficits in motor and cognitive function associated with aging” (Gomez-Pinilla).
