The Pros And Cons Of A Pet Sitter

Improved Essays
There are several unfortunate situations that occurred with some pet sitters and their clients. These occurrences have gotten Pet Net into some turmoil with its clients and within its own organization. It is clear that mistakes were made, but it is not as clear to who is at fault for the mistakes. Dealing with other people’s pets is a tricky task because you are not the pet owner. As obvious as that sounds it is true because a pet sitter only knows what the owner tells the sitter. There are many unpredictable situations that occur when pets are away from their owners. The pets could act differently since they are in the care of a new person. As a pet sitter, you must remember that this is not your pet. Act only in the ways that the owner would or how Pet Net has taught you. If the sitter is unsure of what to do then call the owner or make …show more content…
There can be cases where “An agent may be liable to a third party if he contracts for a legally existing and competent principal while lacking authority to do so” (Mallor 978). This would be true, but Jim Beagle gave the pet sitter the authority to take the sick pet into the emergency vet. There are also situations where “An agent may expressly bind herself by joining the principal as an obligor on the contract” and “Simply adding the word ‘agent’ when signing her name… could subject the agent to liability” (Mallor 978). According Smith v. St. Francis Hosp., Inc., 1983, “Apparent authority results from a manifestation by the principal to a third person that another is his agent. The manifestation may be made directly to the third person or to the community at large by signs or advertising. But, "apparent authority exists only to the extent that it is reasonable for the third person dealing with the agent to believe the agent is authorized. " Under the law, it is generally accepted that the principal or employer is liable for all the acts of the agent or employee even when someone who isn't legally an agent for organization is given authority by the principal to engage in actions for the organization. The principal or the organization will still be liable for…

As is the custom today, people attended church services in the 16th century. And, just as it is today, all worshipers were welcomed in the Lord's House – even dogs. Members of the congregation would often bring their dogs to church, or the dogs would follow their owners there. Either way, the need for a canine babysitter became apparent as the number of animal congregants increased. Churches in England and parts of Europe, found themselves needing the services of people who would tend to the dogs in case the animals engaged in disruptive behaviors: fighting, attacking members, and being noisy.…
