Symbolism, simile, and irony are the literary devices that helped prove the thesis by showing the readers what the outcome and the consequences are of choosing the wrong choice. Poe warns the reader what happens when you let perverseness take control of you and how you must be aware of what the outcome will be. Poe also shows us that giving in to perverseness can affect you and the people around you. In conclusion, Poe wrote this story to warn everyone about perverseness and how it changes the person who lets in to perverseness.
