Drama elements or “the elements”(Dinham,2011) how it’s referred to in delivering in authentic arts education, is building blocks of drama employed in shaping the dramatic action to create meaning in a film, book and song. These elements are important in dramatic performances because it shows you the “tools” you can work with to shape the dramatic presentation of ideas. By having the elements in your performance it enhances the performance and it also gives you an idea of what is the method of a good presentation. Mary’s neglected most of the time when she isn’t with her friends Martha and Dickson. She heard a cry coming from down the stairs. She looks for where the noise came from until she finds an abounded room.
The room has ivy vines all around the room, with a tree trunk in the middle. The room is similar to her mother’s room and she is asking why there is a room like this in her uncle’s house? She asks questions to the gardener who tells her that it’s a secret garden belonging to her late aunt. He said it has been locked up ever since she has passed. Mary wants to know why no one has taken care of the room and why are there plants being grown inside?
The final element I chose is voice and movement. Voice and Movement are drama elements means “the expressive use of the movements of the body and voice to shape the dramatic action” (Dinham, 2011) the actress who played Mary is of an English descent, so she didn’t have to change her accent to portray Mary who is also of English descent. Mary’s movements are all pre-planned, she wouldn’t do anything as an accident movement. Her shoulders are stiff to portray how she is cautious of what she is doing at all times. Her face looks
