To recruit new employees the hospital could also offer sign on bonuses just as they do for nurses when they are hired. Cross training techs from other areas of the hospital for the emergency room would be beneficial for all as well. Providing lunch, having staff meetings, and thanking them for their teamwork will give the employees satisfaction of knowing that their work is appreciated makes the job a little less stressful. The hospital emergency room is staffed with what some may consider highly paid employees such as physicians’ and nurses and are deemed a necessity to the hospital. There are also other very hard working clinical staffed employees in the emergency room that are most often overlooked, and underpaid but are a very vital part of the emergency room team as well. There is a high turnover rate and shortage of Patient Care Technicians in the emergency room because they have so many responsibilities and they feel that they are not appreciated for what they do. If hospital do not realize how important these employees are they can be faced with many challenges such as law suits because of injuries or neglect to patient to over paying nurses for preforming tech’s duties. Offering pay increase, hiring staff, or offering tuition reimbursement to send a tech to school for nursing, will keep the current staff reliable, unstressed, and eager to work as well as have more people eager to accept the positions as Patient Care
