Donovan Bailey once said, “Follow your passion, be prepared to work hard and sacrifice, and, above all, don 't let anyone limit your dreams.” For someone, what defines that? In my opinion, it is the path that he or she wants to step on. For someone like me, the path has been drawn out before I could even notice. Someone who has had their life planned in place already, it would make sense that they would suggest Business Management for someone of my demeanor. However, the truth is that passion means more to me then a paycheck and leads a brighter future for me, which is why Digital Design is my first choice. As people know, business majors are always working under big pressures especially for people who have to deal with huge amount of clients and funds. It takes more than communication skills, public speaking skills, and leadership skills. Most of the time, it tough taking high-pressure limits, and a strong heart are the basic requirements for the businessmen-working environment. For example, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics’ words about accountants and auditors’ work environment “The work tends to be fast-paced and can be stressful” (2014). It is a great war filled for people who are ambition and hard-core. However, for Digital Design at Animation working environment, it takes more time to create and design. It is a time taking process. For great Digital Designers, they may need to spend years to come up with a great work. The digital design major working environment is in more demand for people who have critical thinking skills, and who are patient and creative. Few of the jobs are request on-the-job training. It seems to not make much of a difference. However, these two majors in college have huge differences. They ask for different skill sets. For example, Business management major at Grand Canyon University website are described as “Learn organizational development and the practical aspects of organizational change for the 21st century” (2015). But for the Digital Design with Emphasis in Animation, its described as “A digital design degree with a specialization in animation prepares you to work in a variety of areas including television, film, computer applications and games, technical simulations in manufacturing and medical industries, architectural visualization, new product development and more” (2015). On the course requirements, there is also a difference. Digital Design majors require more drawing skills, 3D, 2D modeling, animation, photography, and film production skills (GCU, 2015). Business management involves more accounting, communication, human resource, finance, and economic skills (GCU, 2015). But, interestingly digital design course requires you to take business for design professional class (GCU, 2015).
