Personal Goal

At my best, I am driven and determined, working towards a goal. I am passionate about what I study and what I do, and I use that passion to drive my work ethic. My goal has always been to achieve to the best of my ability and to know that I am doing my absolute best in every situation, whatever the domain. I strive to reach my potential and to know that there was nothing more I could have done to improve. As one of my friends described, a large part of my best self is “your drive and ambition to get things done, something which you more than anyone else has.” I am motivated and willing to persevere and to put in the work necessary to accomplish what I know could be possible. I put all my effort into everything I do, whether it “counts” or …show more content…
I look at problems in unique ways. I make connections between topics, in my life and in my classes, to try to make sense of the world and attempt to apply what I have learned in the classroom to my life. I want to learn, and I want to understand how things connect into a bigger picture. As my lab manager expressed, “you are not afraid to question just about anything.” In this sense, my goal is to understand how things fit together into complex wholes, and in my mind I piece them together in distinctive and creative ways. I am my best self when questions remain unanswered, where concepts are able to fit together to gain a cohesive picture of an …show more content…
Success is knowing I did everything I could, whether socially or academically, to display to others and myself what I am capable of. It is knowing that there was nothing more that I could have done to make a situation or outcome better. I will organize my life around situations that challenge me as a person as well as give me opportunities to interact with and assist others. I will choose a career path that challenges me and forces me to rethink how I look at specific problems and how I think about the world in general, in addition to having practical applications to improve the lives of others. I will organize my life and my effort so that when I do not succeed, it is not due to a lack of trying. Overall, my goal should be to organize my life in a way that allows me to push myself to achieve to the highest of my potential and perform to the best of my ability. In the future, it will be important to learn to trade some of my future orientation for the goals of others and for my own present happiness. I will have to trade off my time and my energy in order to help others, which is something I am willing and find pleasure in doing. In addition, sometimes I get so caught up in my goals so that I do not necessarily enjoy the present. Although this is a large part of who I am, I also think that I will still

Everyone goes through life trying to be successful; but what actually is success? It is very difficult to define success because it is subjective to the person experiencing it. For instance, to a little child, success could be getting a gold star on his test, for a college student, success could be not failing an exam. Many people, however, just think of success in terms of money. If they cannot buy the same things their neighbors can, they do not see themselves as successful compared to those neighbors.…

The main reason why I think that HACC is the best choice for me is because of the cost. The rates per credit are around $250 and that is for in-state residents. The total cost for a commuter would be around $13,750 for a student who is full time, which means they are taking 12 credits per term (Stager). This price of $13,750 includes the price of books, supplies, food, and transportation and it is an average price for all HACC students (HACC.edu). I think that I could easily cut some of the cost by trying to buy my books online for a cheaper price or even eating at home to save a lot of money.…
