Most doctors order test or procedures not based on the need for them but their concern over liability which is increasing their personal income. The government understands the fact that there is money being wasted, but there is simply no desire to incorporate useful and intelligent information for better treatment, records of the outcomes of these treatments, and the information that comes from these treatments to prevent and reduce the chance of unnecessary duplicate treatments. The state of the healthcare system is poorly managed and disorganized. Our healthcare system would benefit more from having a strong single corporation that has organized planning and spending. An effective solution to the major over-spending in the healthcare field would be to establish a new system of responsibilities and guidelines that correspond with different members throughout the healthcare field. This way, someone will be accountable to provide essential management and offer a proper guideline on how the money will be used.
The most far-reaching effort to contain health care cost to date would be the Affordable Care Act. This new effort contains a vast presentation of reforms to the way health care is delivered and paid for. These reforms will not just reward the quantity of care, but also the merit and value of care. These messages to the government are already provoking some, but little, change throughout the health care
