An elite group of car audio enthusiasts and retailers who have come together to establish the very best in the 12volt industry. Each MESA member is selected in a key geographic area and that area becomes their territory. No other member can infringe upon another member’s territory. This promotes ethic and upstanding business principles amongst those vendors that carry a great passion for the industry. Being a member of the MESA group gives one the opportunity to negotiate a program with specific representatives (i.e. Scocshe) to “further enhance their profitability” and taking advantaging of exclusive partner lines only sold to MESA members. Twice a year, MESA members come together in person to reinforce valuable information, changes in the industry, as well as building the strong group dynamic that each vendor has built between one another. In the 12volt industry, quality dash kits and harnesses have been associated unanimously with Scosche. This has not gone unnoticed as Scosche was won countless awards from consumer organizations such as CES, CTIA, iLounge, Popular Mechanics, and more. To separate themselves from the competition, Scosche builds thier product with the highest quality ingredients in mind. Most other brands for example, use recycled ABS plastic to construct their dash kit. Scosche uses Polypropylene and non-recycled ABS plastic mix. They also powder coat and texturize their kits to match the same specifications of OEM quality. When it comes to their wiring, Scosche uses true AWG (American Wire Gauge) to measure the proper gauge of their wire. This ensures the customer is paying for quality of product. On top of that, Scocche uses oxygen-free copper (OFC) compared to the competition that uses copper clad aluminum mix (CCA). Cutting corners in this industry can have disastrous results. Not using the right gauge of wire can cause an increase in resistance and permanently damage a customer’s amplifier. Having a dash kit manufactured from cheaply recycled ABS plastic can break, thus resulting in the radio

When the GM engineers collaborated to determine an ignition switch replacement, the user-based approach to quality should have been applied. Allowing the consumer to be a part of the product production would have given the company a non-biased view on the design. “The user-based definition favours the consumer but poses important challenges for the managers who must be in a position to measure customers’ subjective perceptions and then translate them into operational efficiency” (“Re-defining”, n.d.). The likely-hood that GM will use this method is uncertain, however, an educated guess would say that the user-based approach would require GM to do some extra work that they may be trying to avoid. The automotive industry as a whole has built a reputation of giving the consumer what they think the consumer wants.…
